Weebly assures me that my readership is skyrocketing! Since I rarely ever get a comment, I'm not sure if I should believe that or if it's just Weebly's way of having a laugh at my expense. Either way, I do want to thank those of you who do follow my blog. I do sincerely appreciate it, and keep on, please!
I haven't been sleeping much, so I have promised myself that I will at least be in bed attempting to sleep by 1 a.m. With that in mind, I would like to share a poem I wrote this morning. It isn't anything from the book I've been working my way through. It just started with a phrase I heard somewhere quite a while ago, and it stuck with me. It just poured out of my sleep-deprived mind this morning and survived the edit. This is what I wrote:
Demons
My demons, oh my
Demons, they do screech,
And they do wail
Like the tires
Of a sports car
Hurtling headlong
Into a tree.
But the demons
Of my demons are quiet
And serene as they nip
At my brow
And gain access
To my mind
Through the furrows
Of many battles
Lost.
